be queen bee / performance

Performance presented at „Buzzing the Boles” event in August 2024 as part of a residency at Live Art Ireland. The performance was inspired by the functioning of a community of bees in a hive. During the performance, I climbed a tree and, using costume and props, took on the role of a queen bee. I was accompanied by an audio track from a documentary film describing the life of bees and rays of light shining through between the leaves. I and the audience gathered under the beech tree listened to the important role of the queen, which involves taking a mating flight, laying eggs, and controlling the entire hive with the help of secreted pheromones.
