CO-PRESENT IN THE CITY NETWORK
The project was implemented by the Association of Alternative Education in Opole together with the city’s residents of all ages. As a result of diverse artistic activities lasting several months, an installation was created, symbolizing the city network, in which we all live. The installation combines mingling and coexisting affairs, emotions, memories, important places – and people. It combines the traditional with the new – which is why the decision was taken to weave the installation by crochet. This challenge was taken up by the Ladies of the Day Care House “Magda – Maria” – the true champions of needlework. They were able to depict the City Hall, Piast Tower, Green Bridge and many other places. They created a city on crochet. They also shared their crocheting skills with the children during regular meetings. Crochet canvas were filled with ceramic sculptures made by a group of children and adults, depicting important places, events and people of Opole. In the city of yarn and clay, the voices of people can also be heard, talking about the experiences associated with Opole. These are the voices of the project’s participants.
