The work was made during a stay in Boston, USA, in September 2024. The setting for the film was the Wonderland Garage parking lot, built on the site of a former amusement park. An amusement park, Wonderland, functioned in Boston at the beginning of the 20th century, when it ceased to be profitable the park space was turned into building lots, where today we find a shopping mall and the garage mentioned above. During my exploration of the garage space, I was dressed in an airy gown created from dissolvable tulle. My costume, in contact with liquid, can disappear just like an unprofitable amusement park.
During the exhibition „Now Falling Horizontally” with take place in Midway Studios in Boston in 13 – 15 September 2024, I presented a performance. In my temporary costume, I situated myself in the kitchen transforming it into a magical space of childhood memories. In the cabinets, instead of plates, I placed piles of shells collected at sunrise on Revere Beach (the first public beach in the United States). I gave the shells to the audience and encouraged them to listen to the sound of the waves through them, I fried popcorn in a large pot, its shooting sound echoed off the walls of the gallery at one point I heard a comment from the audience “sound of America”. I tried to recreate the atmosphere of the former amusement park, where I’m sure popcorn was served I think paper bags were used for this, not shells but who knows? After all, in the “ Wonderland ” anything is possible….
