A Dream is a Wish You Heart Make / videoart

The title of the work is also the title of a song sung by Cinderella in Disney’s film adaptation of the
classic fairy tale. The girl singing it dreams, and is convinced that these dreams will come true one day.
The video material for the work was created during my stay at the Live Art Ireland artist residency.
In August 2024, I lived in the castle for a week, temporarily taking on the role of a fairy-tale character
who discovered the magnificent interiors of Milford House, arranged by Deej Fabyc. The impulse to create
this work came from observing my nieces playing, their movements and behaviour when they pretended
to be princesses – the contrast between childlike naturalness and formal, although beautiful, ball gowns.
