Lazos de sangre / exhibition

In 2021 I had the pleasure of staying at the Residencia Corazón in Argentina’s La Plata

The first thing I saw upon arriving at the Residencia Corazón was an herbaceous plant – the same plant as the one I have at home. The plant is native to southern Africa but has become established in many countries around the world. Its Spanish name is Lazo de Amor – (meaning love connection) that’s where the title of my exhibition comes from. In my project, I look at the roots and metaphorical connections between people of the plant.

I immerse the roots in my own blood, among the roots of a fallen tree I read a letter sent from Poland by Nadia’s ancestors before the war. With a small golden key, I try to open a secret door
